The Nebraska Medical Center
The
Nebraska
Medical
Center (NMC)
has 689 licensed beds, and is the teaching hospital for the
University
of
Nebraska.
Located in
Omaha, the NMC is a referral center for much of out-state
Nebraska,
eastern
Colorado,
western
Iowa,
South Dakota,
Kansas,
Missouri.
With an international reputation for providing solid organ and
bone marrow transplantation services, patients from across the
United States and around the world are cared for by many of our physicians.
UNMC is well known nationally and regionally for its oncology,
neurology and cardiology programs. We are a level 2 trauma
center, a certified stroke center, a leading cardiac center with
a heart failure specialist and heart transplant team, and home
to the only biocontainment unit in the United States accessible
to and equipped to safely care for anyone exposed to a
contagious and dangerous disease such as avian flu.
With a reputation for excellence, innovation and
extraordinary patient care, The
Nebraska
Medical Center has earned J.D. Power and Associates’
Hospital of
Distinction
award two consecutive years.
It has

Veterans Affairs Medical Center
This 398 bed facility is a tertiary care center drawing
patients from
Nebraska,
western Iowa, and portions of Kansas and Missouri, and
making services available to 172,500 veterans.
As a
teaching hospital for both the University of Nebraska and
Creighton University, rotating residents and fellows include
those from the departments Anesthesia, Allergy/Immunology,
Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Neurology,
Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics,
Otolaryngology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Pulmonary/Critical Care,
Radiology (Diagnostic & Interventional), Surgery, and Urology.
With a new state of the art intensive care unit (opened in
August 2007), the Omaha VA has the newest in technology and
facilities to provide outstanding care to our veteran
population.

Turner Park Clinic
Turner Park Clinic is a resident-run continuity clinic
located approximately one mile from campus in a
free-standing medical office building complete with X-ray
capacity and laboratory facilities.
This
unique clinic is run by the ambulatory chief resident and a
Board of Directors comprised of residents.
Hiring of office staff, financial decisions, and operating
expenses are under the control of the Board of Directors.
Patient care activities are supported by a devoted staff and
computerized medical records systems.
Group practice dynamics are taught in a system that establishes partner
interactions and patient coverage patterns. This innovative
design allows you to provide comprehensive care for your
patients.
A
diverse population, high staff to resident ratio, and
curriculum dedicated to ambulatory medicine and office
management makes this a complete ambulatory medicine
